A particular tarot deck, a particular correspondence of a symbolic system with an interpretive system, induces a rich but constrained conceptual framework that can be deployed for a variety of functions, including decision-making, post hoc analysis, or yes, even prediction.
The goal of the developing cartomancer, then, is mastery of this symbolic-interpretive correspondence, of the individual elements and their possible inversions and interrelations. In this context, a tarot reading can function as an exercise to improve one's ability to navigate and improvise in this framework, a chance to evaluate (or show off!) one's current ability, or even just as a recreational test of skill.
